Bright Lights, Big City
Kristin Simmons offers a critical take on the preconceived notions of gender in society and how it is perpetuated through childhood toys and media messages. Her pieces explore the journey of human experience, from the challenges to the moments of success and pleasure, and the profound shift from childhood innocence to the complexity of adulthood. Through her art, she captures the feelings of purity turning into corruption and the realization that life is not as simple as it once seemed.
Phillips selects contemporary artists for select residencies at their New York locations, and Simmons had the pleasure of presenting her work at their Manhattan location. Her exhibition was received with such acclaim that the gallery extended the exhibition for over two years.
