ABOUT

In the symbolic history of wealth, Fabergé eggs are rare and opulent creations, characterized by their intricate craftsmanship, lavish embellishments, hidden surprises, and historical significance of rebirth, fertility, and good luck. “Eggspensive” combines these symbols of fertility with their logical end in the wake of changing values.

In a climate of increasingly polarized economic nodes, the ability to afford children has become a status symbol in and of itself, whether through biological or scientifically-aided means. Luxury has shifted from opulence to biological and medical privilege, and questions arise as we grapple with the ethics of the specific societal nodes having the ability to control their genetic future. These decisions have global implications for determining economies, social structures, and resource availability, as a a person’s control over fertility has as much to do with political and economic realities as it does with one’s individual choice.
