In this bold and thought-provoking screen print, the one-dollar bill takes on a new life as it is adorned with vibrant and contrasting hues. Simmons pushes boundaries by reimagining President George Washington in drag, challenging societal norms and exploring themes of gender identity and expression. Through the merging of color and subject matter, “Beauty is Life’s E-Z Pass: Washington” invites viewers to question and examine their own preconceived notions about power, authority, and individuality. Finally, some female representation on dollar bills (sort of).
